Mob Hit – Life Hurts

MOB HIT – “Life Hurts”    (5 song cd)

This cd is a perfect example of why we have this site. We cover “heavy music” because besides liking it, when it works you’re guaranteed to get loud, passionate, intense, truthful music. And that, my friends, is what you get here.

This cd has such deep grooves provided by Booch that any funk drummer would gladly kill for; screaming, near hysterical in its intensity, vocals by Greg; the thunderous bass, riding the pocket of Giulio and guitarist Rob who provides perfect buzzing, grinding guitars with no frills, just serving the songs riffage.

Several songs starts with a great heavy groove and you think, “Oh, this is a good song,” but as it moves along subtle, simple changes make the song stronger and greater until after being tweaked three or four times you’re going, “Oh, this is a GREAT FUCKING SONG.” This happens after two minutes and twenty seconds of the first track, “If So”, when the vocals keep repeating- Don’t do me any favors/ SET ME FREE- then kicks into double speed finally ending with the killer riff from before.

The second song, “Self Pity” follows this formula as well. And I dare you not to be bangin’ your head in time with this song by the time its half way through.

There’s a couple of songs that are more hardcore in rhythm, that works just as well, especially the kick ass tune that ends the cd, “Yeah Right” but their new style of slowing the rhythm down, building the intensity and just exploding with emotion while holding the reins in, seems to work the best for me. And you can see by them paring down the ideas to get it to its basic form that its not a trick to make the music more digestible but an attempt to get to the true essence, the true core of their art; and at this I believe they succeed.

This cd has great arrangements and production, impassioned singing, flawless drumming, awesome bass and great songs.

This cd is a representation of the struggle against a world and life that is there to rip your soul and guts apart but shows you can overcome, stand tall and survive, mind and heart intact.

This cd is a perfect example of why we do this site.

This cd belongs in your possession.

Do it.
