Carnivora – “Eternal”

cover

Carnivora – “Eternal”

Thud, Thud, Thud …

“What are you doing?” Sam asks quizzically as he watches Billy rhythmically smash his forehead into the end table over and over again.

Thud, Thud, Thud …

Billy suddenly stops and looks up, as if a light bulb had turned on in his head. But sadly it hadn’t and he again commences smashing the table.

Thud, Thud, Thud …

Sam decides drastic measures are in order. He stands behind Billy and wallops him across the back of the head with a wild right cross.

Smash, Bang, Boom …

Billy falls to the floor in a heap. When he collects himself, he sends a wild stare in Sam’s direction.

“What the heck did you do that for?”

“I was trying to save you.”

“Save me by knocking me to the floor.”

“Well, yeah, you were smashing your head into the table.”

“Haven’t you ever had writer’s block before?”

“Writer’s block? Are you an idiot, is that what this is all about.”

“Yeah, I’m way behind. I need to write an article about a local band that just released their first CD and the deadline is tomorrow. I’m trying to think of something profound to say.”

“Really? What band?”

“The band is called Carnivora and they’re from Danvers, MA. They’re a metal outfit featuring M. Scott Lentine on vocals, Cam Hunt on bass, Cody Michaud and Mike Meehan on guitars, and Dan DeLucia on drums.”

“So what’s their story?”

“Well, they were only formed back in 2010, but have quickly gained notoriety performing with national acts such as Unearth, Fear Factory, Six Feet Under and Job For Cowboy. They even managed to gain a sponsorship with Hurt Reynolds Clothing Company.”

“They must be pretty good then.”

“Yes, they are very good. I just saw them last week in Boston and they were amazing. The crowd was diggin them big time and there was lots of moshing to be had by all. They have a powerful primeval ritualistic delivery style along the lines of Lamb of God. They feature awesome guitar riffs, blackened death vocals, and very tight pace changes.”

What’s their new album like?”

“Their new CD is called ‘Eternal’ and it contains 11 awesome hard rockin’ tracks including their first single ‘Human Decimator’. The sound and production quality is superb.”

“Can you play me a few tracks?”

“Sure, take a listen to ‘Human Decimator’.”

“Wow, that was awesome. The guitars and vocals are unbelievable. How about another?”

“OK here’s the title track ‘Eternal’. Get ready to bop your head uncontrollably”

“Fantastic. Just one more please.”

“Alright, but this is the last one. I have to get back to my article. This one’s my favorite. It’s called ‘Thrash of the Titans’. Check out the guitar work.”

“Simply amazing. I’ve gotta have this album. Where can I get a copy.”

“Try Bandcamp, iTunes, Spotify or CD Baby. They all have it.”

“Dude, now I can see why it’s taking you so long to write your article. These guys deserve a rad writeup.”

“I know, don’t remind me. Now get lost so I can start thinking again. Or …., maybe you can help me.”

“Sure I’ll help. What can I do?”

“They say two heads are better than one. Just do what I do.”

Sam watches as Billy walks across the room and begins smashing his forehead into the end table.

Thud, Thud, Thud …

Sam hesitates for a moment and then shrugs his shoulders in compliance. He walks over to Billy, sits down and begins smashing his head into the table as well.

Thud, Thus, Thud, Thud, Thud, Thud …
