(A Poem by Jim Slimedog)
I say to Harry The Cat
“Harry, I’m fucked.”
He says, “You’re not fucked. Yeah, it’s 4 A.M.
And you’re drunk out of your tree
But you have no work tomorrow.
You have to see two rock shows tomorrow
You’ll be at a bar by 2 P.M.
You’ll be drunk again before you know it.
Maybe some time in the future
you may have to pay the price
But for now you’re golden.”
“Lisa says, every-time she makes it straight
she knows her heart will break.”
By Lou Reed
Who writes lyrics better than him?
Well, no one
I interpret it
As a prostitute selling sex for drugs
Who occasionally
Has a “john” when she’s straight
And this is how she feels
I say to Harry The Cat
“The humans think they’re the smart ones
the humans think they’re created in God’s image
And the humans create sins and crimes
you can’t imagine
wouldn’t believe even if you could comprehend
Harry The Cat
goes about his business
he’s got no time for this bullshit
He already knows the humans ain’t special
but he does realize
you have to be tolerant and pacify
those beneath you
