Committed to creating and showing provocative contemporary art.

Thrash N Bang is and will always be, primarily a music website, but we would like to promote and be a place for other arts as well. I just started a poem of the week for myself in the Forum section, some of mine and Andy’s short stories are on the site and there are 30 “Artists of the Week” in the Forum section now, as well.

So if anyone wants to put me onto gallery shows or wants to write about them yourselves, please do. I found out about this three person show through Jess Punk, who I know as a fan of the bands we cover and is also one of the artists in the show.

All of these artists are related to our music community and all have quite different styles- from Amy Toxic’s elaborate and skillful drawings to Dave Tree’s satirical, humorous and crazy art (sometimes on canvas, sometimes on skateboards or desk drawers) to Jess Punk’s mostly large sized expressionistic art, often abstract but figurative as well. And all the art was great and really fun to look at.

Maybe I enjoyed Punk’s style the best but Tree certainly was the most inventive and Toxic’s the most skilled (with probably my favorite piece done by her- The Clock!)

So let’s check out some pictures of the art. Most of these photos were taken by Paul Gaudreau who we want to thank for taking such great pictures and also for allowing us to use them. Here is a picture of the three artists- Jess Punk, Dave Tree and Amy Toxic.

Here is some of Jess’s art. She is an expressionistic painter meaning she tries to express emotion through her use or color and form.

Here is some of Dave’s art. It seems recently he’s into painting clown faces on traditional stripper models. My favorite one of his was hidden. It was a small desk drawer that had multiple pictures of a blond stripper.

And some of Amy’s drawings.

This is my favorite by her. It’s a clock that has been painted and little toy soldiers and farm animals have been attached.

The final day of the show is next Saturday May 4 where I believe they’ll have a little party so check it out then or before.

This is a picture of me with Jess Punk. Dave refused to have anything to do with me after he saw me inadvertently knock one of Amy’s drawings off the wall. And here Amy turns away in a fit of disgust!
