Interview with Full Body Anchor

Interview with Full Body Anchor at the Midway

By Jim Slimedog

Full Body Anchor, a band that was created from the ashes of several very good Boston punk bands, take their musical aspirations in an exciting, new direction. Comprised of member of Darkbuster, Drago, 007 Hundred Club and the Dents they still aim to rock ya just in a different way.

Eric, the singer, is noticed drinking from a Bud Light bottle whose top has been partially broken off. Slimedog admonishes him for this careless action.

Slimedog- Oh, my goodness. Yeah, don’t do that dude- really. Really- there’s more beer in the world.

Eric- I gotta drink it straight down. If I try to sip it I’ll be in a fuckin’ hospital bed.

Slimedog- You fell down during a song tonight. Did you do it on purpose?

Eric- (Laughing) No.

Slimedog- I saw people rushing to your aid.

Eric- I know, it’s happened so many times. I don’t know why everyone’s so fuckin’ surprised. The guy fell- again.

Slimedog- Okay, I think it’s time to do the interview. (Dennis and Amy arrive. The first attempt, a few weeks ago, of an interview didn’t record so this is the second attempt).

Slimedog- Okay, everyone try to remember very hard exactly what you said in the first interview. How did you all get started?

Eric- I wanted to start a band again. I called Kevin (drums) and I didn’t even know him at all. I was like, “Do you wanna start a band, like Queens of the Stone Age, Stone Temple Pilots and he’s like, “Yeah, cool.” So Kristen (guitar) and I started playing together with him and I really wanted Dennis (bass) and Amy (guitar/background vocals) in the band but I was afraid to sort of ask because I knew they were really busy and then I was like, “I have to ask, I have to,” and they said, “Yes.” I was pretty psyched. And then everybody was in other bands so I didn’t know how it would go but then all the bands- Drago, 007- all kind of fell by the wayside so this has become everyone’s main vehicle.

Slimedog- Any recording plans coming up?

Eric- We’re gonna do a Christmas single with one original and something traditional like “O Holy Night.”

Slimedog- Oh, really.

Eric- And we’re writing new songs.

Slimedog- This bands music is quite different from the other bands you all have been in previously any comments about this change?

Eric– To be honest, I don’t want to disappoint anybody that liked the other bands, but I think this is the type of band that everybody wanted to be in. We were in the other bands because they were fun. But I think the music that we listen to and play now is more representative of what we like.

Dennis- Over the years, I’ve been playing in punk rock bands for so long it’s like, wait a second, there’s other kinds of music genres that I want to play in. You don’t want to get stale; you don’t want to play the same old shit all the time.

Slimedog – Who writes in the band?

Eric- Everybody writes, I’m probably the premier songwriter but everyone’s a contributor.

Slimedog- Who writes the lyrics?

Eric- I write all the lyrics.

Slimedog- So how would you describe your style, as Kristen enters the interview area?

Kristen- I would say sexy, a little falling over, a little drunk, a little hung over.

Slimedog- Is that you you’re describing?

Kristen- No, I’m describing everyone in the band and I haven’t got to Amy yet, a little adorable and Kevin, a little cantankerous.

Slimedog- Cantankerous, that’s a great word.

Kristen- And that’s it. When I was referring to the falling over I was talking about Eric, when I was talking about hung over I was talking about Dennis, but when I was referring to a little drunk- that was me.

Slimedog- And adorable would have to be Amy.

Kristen- Of course.

Amy- But I’m cantankerous, too. Hee, hee.

Slimedog- Cute dimples, you know. She got voted “cutest guitarist” in the Noise. (To Amy) Do you know who that was?

Amy- No.

Slimedog- That was me. (Laughter) She tied with Kimi Hendrix of The Killer Abs.

Kristen- I think she is (meaning Amy’s the cutest).

Slimedog- Both cute girls, both very nice girls and both very able guitar players.

Kristen- Absolutely.

Amy- And evil!

Slimedog- (To Kristen) You missed a lot of the questions. They were saying terrible things about you.

Kristen- I’m sure they did. I’m gonna say terrible things about them, too.

Slimedog- Who drinks the most in the band?

Kristen- Ah, ha, ha- clear-ly.

Eric- Kevin.

Amy- Are these the same questions?

Slimedog- Yeah, remember you did it and it didn’t record?

Amy- Oh, I got confused. (Dawning on her)-I thought I did this before (Laughter)

Slimedog- That was just a bad nightmare.

Amy- Sorry.

Dennis- It’s a tie, but it’s Amy.

Kristen- She was drinking nips.

Slimedog- Well, I do have to mention before you arrived, your friend Eric was drinking out of a broken beer bottle and just the fact…

Kristen- Are you trying to shock me?

Slimedog- I was a little shocked. So he gets extra points for that.

Slimedog- I know we did these before. Who did we decide was the serial killer?

Eric- Kevin.

Slimedog- And why?

Dennis- I’ll disagree with everybody else.

Kristen- Kevin.

Slimedog- And Dennis you disagree?

Dennis- I’m not disagreeing, just whoever it is I’ll disagree ‘cause I don’t want to get killed (by the serial killer).

Slimedog- I get it, you don’t want to insult the serial killer.

(There follows a discussion about how Kristen follows court cases and would prosecute Kevin if he does, indeed, kill Dennis.)

Slimedog- Personally, I think its Dennis because, as the bands have pointed out to me, it is always the quiet one.

Kristen- No, he’s a little lamb, a lamb.

Slimedog- I know, that’s just a façade.

Kristen- No, he’s like a little white lamb munching on grass.

Slimedog- If you could do one thing to make the world a better place what would you do?

Kristen- Punch a vegan in the face.

Dennis- Let everyone mind their own fuckin’ business and not bother one another and leave everyone alone.

Amy- Shorter work week.

Slimedog- All excellent answers, now, is their one question that you wished I asked that I didn’t?

Eric- Yes.

Slimedog- Okay.

Eric- What do we think about you? (He says threateningly).

Slimedog- That’s a reasonable question, I mean, you know.

Eric- Do you want us to answer the question?

Slimedog- Sure.

Eric- I like you (he says leeringly).

Slimedog- You have to say that or no interview. Is there one question you’re glad I didn’t ask?

Eric- Who do I like best in the band?

Kristen- Oh, I know who it’s gonna be already.

Eric- I’m not gonna answer so I’m glad you didn’t ask it.

Slimedog- See it’s a trick question ‘cause now I wanna know.

Eric- If I don’t say my wife (Kristen) it gets weird-

Kristen- No, it doesn’t get weird. I don’t like you, so…

Eric- But if I do (Laughter).

Slimedog- I think if you’re married to someone in the band it’s kind of a given they’re not your favorite person. Many married couples I’ve known it would be the least favorite person in the band.
