The Enemy Within – “As Long As I Can Walk, I’ll Step Out of Line”

Ever had an ich in an awkward hard to reach spot, like the middle of your back? A vile little ich that just drives you nuts. You start searching frantically for something, anything, you can use to relieve the torment. All the while, the intensity increases with every passing moment. Pushing you to your limits. Finally, out of shear maddened desperation you decide you’ve had enough. You spin your head completely around your body and drop your jaw down to the evil spot. You gnaw at the ich like a wild pack of dogs, only to realize you’ve bitten an enormous hole through the small of your back!!!

No … that hasn’t happened to you? Probably not.

Well, I’m sure you’ve gotten an ich in a strange spot, right? And I’m sure you’ve searched frantically for a method of relief. But, no doubt, you’ve probably stopped short of rabidly gnawing an enormous hole through your back. Heck, if I could actually spin my head completely around my body to service a hard to reach ich on my back, I’d probably spend most of my days with my head firmly planted near my crotch! Wouldn’t you?

But, I digress. I find music to be the same way. Sometimes finding great music can be as maddening as relieving that hard to reach ich. But every now and then you get lucky. You manage to find it just before gnawing off a few body parts. And if you’re really lucky, you find some music that is so awesome that your body parts start screaming to be gnawed. Which is exactly what I found in the great new CD by Boston-based band, The Enemy Within, called “As Long As I Can Walk, I’ll Step Out of Line”.

Hard, fast and raucous, The Enemy Within blends hardcore and metal into a masterpiece of energy and excitement. Containing 13 rockin’ tunes, “As Long As I Can Walk, I’ll Step Out of Line” is sure to obliterate even the hardest to reach ich you can manifest. With an awesome production quality, the CD captures the same great sound we have come to expect from The Enemy Within’s live performances. And without further ado, let’s check out a few of their tracks for your listening enjoyment.

“This House Must Fall” kicks the door open with a groovy herky jerky action. Nice guitars and tandem shout blasts.

“All This Will End”, but not yet. One of the longer tunes, it meanders through lots of peaks and valleys yielding the full brunt of what The Enemy Within is all about.

“Digging Deep” has hardcore written all over it. Lots of speed and excitement. Enjoy.

“No Escape” is the pleasant calamity we find ourselves enveloped in as TEW takes total control of all our senses.

And finally, with “For All Of You”, TEW has encapsulated a special message for all the nay sayers out there.
