Zombie Fighter – “Run For Your Life”
Quick, run for your life, it’s Zombie Fighter!!!
Well actually, it’s “Run For Your Life” by Zombie Fighter. No need to worry, but plenty to get excited about. “Run For Your Life” is an awesome new 5 song EP just released by a very cool metal band out of Keene, NH called, Zombie Fighter.
A traditional five piece ensemble, these guys play anything but traditional heavy metal. They lean towards the thrashy side, but they’re much more than that. Jaimes Friedman (vocals) exudes a crafty black metal feel, while Graham Fortier (drums) and Justin Elbourn (bass) drive the rhythm section as if flesh eating zombies are giving chase and about to strike. And the tandem of Will Abdelnour and Nick Timney on guitars produce thunderous riffs and solos with surgical precision. These guys are fast. Did I say fast? No, I meant to say incredibly blisteringly fast!!! And all, with an amazing tightness that would put many metalcore bands to shame.
Wondering what Zombie Fighter sounds like? Well let’s check it out. The 3rd track on their EP is called, “Beloth”, who, as we all know, was a very wise and powerful Dragon Rider with a very cool belt that could store energy (…come on, you knew that). The tune starts out with a syncopated drum rhythm that gives way to a blistering guitar riff and solo, settling on a running chugger to await the vocals. The vocals enter with a harsh blackness exuding a mastery for mystery (Darkthrone would be proud). The guitars get a bit more sprightly along the way, until eventually erupting into a frantic solo fully equipped with cool gratuitous runs and occasional background snarls.
