M-13 – ONE THREE H.C. (7 INCH)

M-13 – ONE THREE H.C.                     (7 INCH)

M-13 is an awesome old school hardcore band with members hailing from both Connecticut (Mike – guitar & Al – bass) and New York (Rich – vocals, Gerry – guitar & Ken – drums). A few months back, TNB saw M-13 at a nightclub in Lowell, MA called, Gemstones, and it was definitely the best hardcore performance I’ve ever had the privilege of witnessing (hands down). I remember remarking to Slimedog, “…it just doesn’t get any better than this…”. Simply put, these guys know how to BANG!!! out the hardcore.

M-13 just released a 7 incher, titled, ‘One Three H.C.’, which contains 4 incredible hardcore rockin’ tunes; ‘One Three H.C.’, ‘Belong‘, ‘Power‘ and ‘Thin Line‘.

The first song, ‘One Three H.C.‘, drum rolls out into high gear with a fast paced maniacal driving energy, spewing and spitting of street-wise lamentings and memory (…as you would). Slowing, at times, to a breath catching, rhythmic chugging guitar action (….perfect for the serious mosher). Awesome vocals and drum action. “You’ve got to live to see today…, you’ve got to try to find a way…”

Be very careful while listening to the second tune, called ‘Belong‘, as my pet hamster died of an aneurism during the playback. It starts off with some cool earsplitting feedback and bass bopping that overshadows a demonic brand of nursery rhyming. Then the feedback fades and the narrator begins chanting “…I belong, I belong, I belong …” while the pace gradually quickens until eventually all hell breaks loose (…the point at which Buddy the hamster bit the big one..). Shake and repeat. Very cool tune. Rich once again displays his awesome talent.

The third song, called ‘Power‘, is arguable my favorite tune on the album. It’s a bit of a change up in that the guitar is very prominent and the beat is more direct. Lots of very cool guitar licks surround a rap-like chant that includes (…you guessed it), “Power…”.

The fourth and final tune is called, ‘Thin Line‘, and has an accompanying video, which you’ll be able to find below. ‘Thin Line‘ is a very cool tune that really highlights all the talents of the guys in M-13. Great guitars, great vocals and awesome drums (…but what else is new). Rather than trying to describe it, I’ll let you check it out for yourself.

M-13 – ONE THREE H.C. (7 INCH)

As you can see, M-13’s 7-incher, ‘One Three H.C.‘, contains some really awesome tunes and is one compilation all you rockers out there are definitely gonna want to have. You can find TNB’s band profile for M-13 here and although they mostly play out in the Connecticut area, TNB has been fortunate enough to check them out live a couple of times and also snag a way cool interview (here). Be sure to check out M-13 the next time they visit your neighborhood.

Later,
(Andy Bang)
