More Beer Please – “…In Space”
After throwing back a pint, I gesture to my beer-tender, Harry, by raising a finger (the good one) and exclaim, “…may I have more beer please?” But instead of handing me another cool frosty, he hands me a CD in a paper jacket with some cartoon-ish drawings on it. I look back at Harry with a scowl and say, “Hey Harry, what the fuck is this?” Harry retorts, “… just have a listen, I think these guys are right up your alley.”
I examine the paper jacket with strange alien markings and note that it contains a 12 song CD by a punk band out of Lowell, MA named, More Beer Please. The CD is titled “…In Space”. As the drool begins to solidify at the corners of my mouth, I remember a few weeks back, that the Slime-meister (not to be confused with his favorite brew, the jager-meister), mentioned he caught a set by More Beer Please and was amply impressed.
So I quickly whip out my portable CD player and listening apparatus, which I keep handy just for such an occasion (along side the other family jewels) and pop it inside for a listen. I crank up the volume and, to my surprise, my nipples immediately explode with excitement as the awesome hardcore sounds of More Beer Please pleasantly assault my eardrums.
These guys (Chad on guitar/vocals, Matt on guitar/vocals, Mike on guitar/vocals, Dan on drums and Jon on bass) play loud, aggressive and fast with a vintage hardcore attitude. Their sound reminds me of another great hardcore band we follow on TNB called M-13. High praise, indeed.
OK, enough with the chatter. I think it’s about time to play a few tunes from , …In Space, so you too can join in on the fun, but be forewarned, hang on to your nipples …
Track 2 is called, My Mutiny. A nice little piece of mayhem with a crazed pace and a chorus that seems to shout “redrum”, which will strike a chord with all you fans of the movie, The Shining.

Well, time’s a wastin’ and I’m late for my next brain surgery. More Beer Please and …In Space is definitely worth the price of admission. Can’t wait to check these guys out live.
